Fabrics Galore!

Sue and I met up recently to go to this eponymous shop as we hadn't paid it a visit for years. The usual tempting treats, we both set ourselves a budget, and actually came in under, both of us!

This gorgeous patisserie print in linen mix will become some piped cushion covers.

The next few are samples to show the different colourways, about fat quarter size each, at just 50p per swatch, bargain!

More cakes, probably jam pot covers.

Lavender and Rose bags?

Enough for a couple of Book Bags.

Patchwork? Total spend in Fabrics Galore! - £7.

This lovely summery print is actually a tablecloth from the 99p Shop, but I think it will become a gathered skirt, and I will get another one for its designed purpose.

And I thought this beautiful display of pansies on my way to school was well worth a photograph.

Hand made gifts

I made this little bag for Auntie Naomi's birthday to fill with some gardening goodies; seed packets, string, plant labels and a marking pen, scissors and some gardening gloves. The Sanderson fabric, I found at the WI Bring and Buy sale.

And for Sue as a retirement present, this necklace and earrings set. She loved it!

To mark her retirement, we took Sue out for Afternoon Tea at Drink, Shop and Do, on Calendonian Rd,  just by King's Cross.

Next time, we will go and make something.

Building my collections

I have been lucky recently in charity shops with pretty cups and saucers to add to my collection. These coffee cups found in Winchester's Naomi House Hospice shop are so subtly decorated.

I love their delicate pattern. The Cath Kidston teatowel was a gift from Mairéad for helping her make a summer skirt (More about that in a later post . . .)

This wintery print is so pretty. From Winchester's Cancer Research shop.

And as luck would have it, in my favourite local shop a matching jug and plate, just 2 days later!

On the same day, this lovely gilded cup and saucer.

And because I can't resist her!

And in Morrison's sale, brand spanking new for a change, some more modern everyday tableware.

Big cat, little cat

I had a lovely day in Winchester with Mummie yesterday, and in the Abbey House gardens I spotted this sweet marmalade cat emulating his African cousins.

More pretties

I discovered some beautiful ceramics at the weekend, half price (the princely sum of £3 each!) in a charity shop in Brighton. My friend Sue picked up a heather brooch she had seen on her last visit for £20, and walked away, for just a fiver!

Nice 1950s Nowegian gravy boat, stamped 'Egersund'

Pretty cake stand

And while I am showing you things - this rather nice dressing table tray was just £2 in the Animals charity shop in Lower Marsh, near Waterloo. I always find something worthwhile in there, but have to hotfoot it on a Tuesday if I don't have a leadership meeting - it closes at 4.

Don't forget my Giveaway!

I forgot to show you these sweet milk jugs; the flowery one is Royal Osborne, the pink one is Colclough, which will go beautifully with my mis-matched cups and saucers, and these hand-crochet trimmed anti-macassars / things that go on the arms of armchairs, not sure which!

Don't forget my Giveaway ends tomorrow - if you'd like a chance to win a lovely crafty sewing book, comment on this post:   http://sky-blu-pink.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/sewing-in-no-time-giveaway.html   now!
