I made some heart shaped red fairy cakes, iced with white chocolate and decorated with a Swizzels' Love Heart, (remember them?!) for Sam and Tony to celebrate their nuptials. Heart shaped silicone muffin cases made the job easier, and I found a sweet heart-decorated plate in Tiger (fab Danish shop!) and wrapped in 'Love' cellophane from our local 'sells everything' shop.To accompany, some teatowels including this one with hearts on it. It'll be February's Monthly Make on the Flickr group, along with the cherry cake from yesterday's post.

Museum Day - your favourite museum or experience
My favourite museum? Too hard to choose just one! I love the Victoria and Albert here in London with its vast variety of beautiful archives, the National Gallery and Tate Britain for the Turners, my all-time favourite artist. But, I love the Uffici, too in Florence, and the Rennie MacIntosh museums in Glasgow, and the Russell-Cotes in Bournemouth, and the Fitzwilliam in Cambridge.....
We went to see The Tomb of the Unknown Craftsman, Grayson Perry's Exhibition at the British Museum ta couple of years ago. Fabulous! If you didn't seen it, he curated his own work alongside artefacts and pieces in the permanent collections that inspired him; from pilgrimages to amphoras. The entrance has his wonderful pink motorbike with a throne for his teddy Alan Measles (too precious to exhibit - he has a stand-in in 'Ted') for their roadtrip around Germany. We bought the catalogue and some postcards to remind us.
Here we are, reflected in the wheel cover!

Keep calm and carry on .....
I hadn't made a cherry cake for while, and found these fun mugs in Morrisons when I was doing my usual food shop; they were crying out to go together. They were enjoyed as we watched The Dirty Dozen (again!) this afternoon.

Spring on its way?
I spotted these lovelies in a neighbour's garden. End of the cold snap I hope and time to see the new green shoots poking their heads through.

Coffee time
I found this beautiful dainty coffee cup, fine Czech porcelain, and 6 saucers for £1.50. It goes really well with these Staffordshire plates by colour. I gave up drinking Espresso because it kept me awake, but might need to hunt out some decent tasting de-caff in order to use this lovely cup! Any suggestions?

Happy's cards
Here's a tiny glimpse into the magic that is Happy's House! How lovely to live in such a cheerful, eclectic dwelling! Certain to put a smile on anyone's face!
I won these in a competition give-away.(See previous post: HAPPY LOVES ROSIE: Happy Greeting Card Winner) If you haven't already, and I expect most of you have, do take a look at her fab blog, full of loveliness, at http://www.happylovesrosie.com/ . I have given away one card to Mummie, and another I won't post so as not to spoil the surprise for the recipient, but here are some of the others in all their brightly coloured glory...
Thanks, Happy; they'll brighten the day of those who open them!

Floral finds
This chair was being thrown out in the rubbish, crying out to be rescued. Yes, it needs two spindles replacing and a bit of TLC, but Sean says he'll fix it. A couple of coats of white paint and a wire brush and it will look lovely!
The cake plate is so dainty, and goes really well with this big print chintz, enough for a full skirt, both for the grand total of £2.49 - bargain!

White surprise!
I've been so busy these last couple of evenings with school work, I've missed the news and weather and it was a total surprise when I looked out of the window this morning!
It didn't last all day though, as it was brilliantly sunny. We had an Inset day, so those children who got up early today out of habit would have got the best of the snow!

A little flurry...
...and London Underground grinds to a halt! It took me 2 1/2 hours to come back from a concert in Swiss Cottage last night, as the tube train 'couldn't pick up the current from the rails because of the cold'. Just about made it home before midnight - all quiet and white.
Today was a fair bit warmer, so the snow is starting to thaw, audibly - you can hear it creaking! There's rain forecast for tomorrow, so I enjoyed it whilst I could, in my new shiny black Wellingtons.

St Julie's Day
Founder's Day! More madcap mayhem to raise money for our sister schools in Peru and Nigeria - we raised over £3100, fantastic effort! First a service to remind us why we do this, then back to school for Sponsored pyjama-wearing, Guess the number of sweets/teddy's name, tombolas, hair and make-up salons, fashion show, Weakest Link, lots of food, ....... including this wonderful chocolate cake by Melissa's mother (it was so delicious and lovely and light!).
I sold out of my marmalade (8 jars) in five minutes, so will need to make some more this weekend for commissions!
