Jewellery upcycling

Mairead was clearing out her jewellery box and gave me these goodies to upcycle to sell for St Julie's Day on Friday, our mad crazy fundraising School Founders' Day. I'll take them apart and mix them up with some other beads and see what happens.

Show you later in the week.

Winter wonderland

At last we are enjoying the lovely snow the rest of Northern Europe has had! I had already arranged to take some girls to St Anne's College, Oxford on Friday so we went ahead anyway, and found it looking beautiful in the snow!

Back in London, we still had enough for snowmen!

It's snowing again today! I will go out with my camera later.

Bright blooms

Here's a shot of colour for the dark winter days.

From Florist de Lille, in August.

We have turned the corner, it's a minute lighter longer everyday since December 21st!

Welsh wool and wood

Some souvenirs from our Welsh adventure; tiny carved lovespoons and a wool rug which captures the water, moss, trees and bracken of Betws-y-coed.

Wild Wales!

We spent a lovely Wedding Anniversary weekend in Snowdonia, in Betws-y-coed. The weather was very wet and windy, but this made for amazingly spectacular rapids and falls!

Our hotel looked out onto the mountains, and local walks gave so many opportunities to enjoy Nature in all her splendour.

St Mary's, the main parish church, has the most beautiful Burne-Jones stained glass windows, like All Saints in Putney. The Eucharist was celebrated half in English, half in Welsh.

St Michaels's is a tiny church, simple and still standing at 700 years old. Just by the church is this fantastic suspension footbridge which wobbles wonderfully when you walk along!

This Telford bridge commemorates the Battle of Waterloo, and welcomes you to Betws-y-coed.

Faces to be found everywhere!

We met a ceramicist, Martin O'Neill, who specialises in Japanese Raku jewellery, and also pit-firing.
Find him at http://www.martin-oneill.co.uk. His studio is just by the station, and do visit if you are ever near Betws-y-coed. I treated myself to this beautiful pendant.

We had a fabulous time, and would love to go back again in warmer weather and have a go at Snowdon; you can get up via a furnicular railway and walk down.......!
