Looking up in Winchester
I met Mummie and Sylvia for lunch in Winchester, one of my favourite cities, last week, and looking up, I snapped these beauties. A cold, but bright day; look how blue the sky is!

30 Days of Creativity: Part 8 and 9, plus February is a month of letters catch up
I had a making jewellery session this afternoon, after not having made any for a while. All recycled; from bits and pieces given to be or bought in job lots in the fab Thames Hospice shop in Uxbridge. Being strict with the '30 minutes a project' rule, I have counted them as two parts.
From a wonderful bargain of eighteen bits of broken necklaces for £1.50 (more to follow in a later post . . .)
Over the last two weeks, I have sent three Birthday cards, two Anniversary cards, (handmade, but I forgot to take pictures) two letters, two postcards and a 'just because' card.

February is a Month of letters Nos 4-8
Just catching you up with this month's challenge; a made-by-me card as a quick 'Hello' to my friend Jacomien, a postcard to Mummie from a visit to St Catharine's College, Cambridge with a group of Year 10 students on Thursday, a little note to Paul to invite him to a concert, and a card for my niece to say I hope all is going well at High School, as she has just started. (in Sydney)
For Jacomien
For Mummie; one of the stained glass windows in the Chapel of St Catharine's, sadly a dull wet day, and no sun shining through!

30 Days of Creativity: Part 7 and February is a Month of letters : No 2 and 3.
Marmalade for St Julie's Day, a bit late for the day itself, but last week was so manic, although I had all my ingredients I just didn't have the hours to spare! So a quiet Sunday was a good time to have a session of orangey kitchen productivity!
Monday's letter was to Mummie, and Tuesday's a card for Sam's husband Tony who has been in hospital, but is now recovering at home.

February is a 'Month of letters'! No.1
I found about this challenge from furrypig at chattycraftyartypig.blogspot.com :
- In the month of February, mail at least one item through the post every day it runs. Write a postcard, a letter, send a picture, or a cutting from a newspaper, or a fabric swatch.
- Write back to everyone who writes to you. This can count as one of your mailed items.
Allowing for Sundays, that's 24 days in the UK.
It's from Mary Robinette Kowal in the US. She says:
"Write love letters, thank yous, or simply notes to say that you miss an old friend. Send a fabric swatch from your new dress. A feather you picked up while on a walk. Whatever it is, let yourself step away from the urgency of modern life and think about an audience of one. Think of it as sending 23 little gifts. And, who knows, you might enjoy going to the mail box again."
I think this is such a fab idea! I love writing and receiving correspondence, but in these days of instantaneous emails and texts, I must admit to not writing as often as I would like. Also, it is a great excuse to use all the pretty stationery I have been hoarding.
This is my first. I won't tell you who it is for, as that will spoil the surprise! A little gift for a special person who sent me some gorgeous gifts at Christmas, a lovely surprise for me!

30 Days of Creativity: Part 6
St Julie's Day, our school Founder's Day took place yesterday. We start the day with Mass in St George's Cathedral, followed by a mad day of stalls, competitions, activities, and other fun things to do to raise money for our sister schools in Peru, Nigeria and Kenya. we raised over £3000, a wonderful effort from the girls and staff.
A few girls from my Form class and I have been busy making things to sell; bracelets, hair decorations and brooches, knitting, sewing and beading. We made about £18, which was great! Thanks, Helen, Courtney, Cinzia, Rosie and Moselle!
These beautiful blooms were knitted by our Librarian, Bev.
The fruits of our labours at our Thursday craft club.
